Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group - Services to carers
The DCCG are committed to ensuring carers needs are met in Doncaster.
During the last year the DCCG/NHS Doncaster has been working in partnership with our local authority Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council (DMBC), the locality partnership boards and carers groups to develop and implement a Carers strategy. In light of the Department of health’s White paper, ‘Caring for our future: reforming care and support’, this strategy (draft) is in currently being reviewed and improved.
Through the Strategy we present the joint vision for Doncaster to support the health and wellbeing of all carers. We recognise and value their significant contribution and we are pleased to strengthen and renew our commitment to support carers and to improve services to help carers lead as normal a life as possible. The focus of this strategy and work over the next few years will be to
- focus on people’s wellbeing and support them to stay independent for as long as possible
- introduce greater national consistency in access to care and support
- provide better information to help people make choices about their care
- give people more control over their care
- improve support for carers
- improve the quality of care and support
- improve integration of different services
- improve access to service and ensure equity across all carers services
Currently DCCG contribute approximately £620,000 towards providing respite for patients and carers. This is provided though a variety of ways including day service provision for patients and enabling breaks for carers though NHS continuing healthcare home care packages. In addition there are number of specific services commissioned by the DCCG which incorporate a substantial element of respite to carers. This is as part of the partnership efforts across organisations in Doncaster to deliver the Carers’ strategy.

Views sought on proposed new paediatric service

This website is in the process of being decommissioned following changes to the structure of the NHS which came into force on 1 April 2013. NHS Doncaster (Doncaster Primary Care Trust) ceased to exist on 31 March 2013 when most of the organisation's responsibilities transferred to the new GP-led NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). We are currently developing the CCG's new website, which can be viewed at www.doncasterccg.nhs.uk. Some of the content from this site will also transfer to that site.
